I am an undergraduate student in biology and geography at the university of Münster in Germany. I am doing a 10-week internship at the Climate Smart Lab through the Mitacs Global Research Internship Program. My research interests are sustainable agriculture, ecology and sustainable urban planning.
Otto (Kaihuai) Deng is an undergraduate student from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) through Mitacs program. He studies in Atmospheric Science (Hydrometeorology). His research centres on satellite remote sensing of hydrological drought, extending into land–atmosphere coupling mechanisms and climate change impact attribution. He grew up in Guangdong, a monsoon and typhoon-proned region, this drives his motivation to use science to reduce harm and inform equitable decision-making.
Laura Isabel Ardila Gómez is an undergraduate research assistant with the Climate Smart Lab at the University of Prince Edward Island. She is finishing her degree in Environmental Engineering at the Universidad de Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia. Her work experience includes GIS and data analysis applied to environmental challenges. Outside of research, she enjoys camping, nature, and working with people.
Here in the Climate Smart Lab, we are a group of people developing sustainable climate solutions with cutting-edge technologies to help build climate-resilient communities. Collectively, we are working together with experts from all disciplines to build a climate-smart future for the next generation and many generations to come.
