Please read the following terms and conditions (collectively, “Terms of Service”) before using the services provided by Climate Smart Lab through its official website at http(s)://climatesmartlab.ca. Note that the terms of “we”, “our”, “us”, and the “lab” all refer to Climate Smart Lab, while the terms of “you” and “your” refer to the customer. By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound to all of the terms and conditions described in these Terms of Service.

Services
Climate Smart Lab is a research lab where we have a group of people developing sustainable climate solutions with cutting-edge technologies to help build climate-resilient communities. Collectively, we are working together with experts from all disciplines to build a climate-smart future for the next generation and many generations to come. Our services include: (1) producing scientific publications to promote our innovative research and technological development towards climate change mitigation and adaptation; (2) developing reliable climate data and computer tools in support of informed decision-making against climate change; (3) providing professional trainings to raise the public awareness of climate change and increase the willingness to take active actions to mitigate and adapt to climate change; (4) hosting conferences to promote the exchange of information, knowledge, and engineering practices for tackling climate change; and (5) offering consultations on climate change impact assessment, mitigation, and adaptation. Some of the services will be offered free of charge, while others will cost a huge amount of resources and effort. We therefore will charge several types of fees, including but not limited to administrative fees, publication fees, registration fees, training fees, and consultation fees, to enable us to offer the best services to deal with climate change.

Account and Membership
While most of the information and materials hosted on our website can be accessed free of charge. You will need to create an online account in order to access and use some services. When creating an account, you may be required to provide certain personal information about yourself, and you will establish a username and a password. You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information about your account. This account will only allow you to use our free services. For those fee-based services, you will need to join as a member and pay your annual membership fee (non-refundable). Your membership will be deactivated if the membership fee is not paid after a certain period of time. You should contact us to activate your membership in order to use our fee-based services.

Termination
Violation of these Terms of Service may result in the immediate suspension or termination of your account and membership. We may investigate conduct that violates these Terms of Service and provide information to law enforcement personnel or to third parties who claim to have been harmed by such conduct. You are responsible for activities that occur under your account. If you breach any of these Terms of Service, we have the right to suspend or disable your access to or use of the Services.

Disclaimer
Your use of our services is at your sole risk. Our services are provided “as is” and “as available”. We disclaim all warranties of any kind. We are not liable for damages, direct or consequential, resulting from your use of our services, and you agree to defend, indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, liability costs and expenses arising from your violation of any third-party’s rights. You acknowledge that you have only a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use our services. Because our services are not error or bug free, you agree that you will use them carefully and avoid using them in ways which might result in any loss of your or any third party’s property or information.

We reserve the right to update our services and these Terms of Service from time to time, at our discretion and without notice. This document is public on our website. Your continued use of our services following the publishing of updated Terms of Service means that you accept and agree to the changes.
