Tianze joined the Climate Smart Lab on January 2022, as a PhD student in environmental sciences of UPEI. Before this he graduated from University of Saskatchewan with a Master of Water Security (2021), and from Ocean University of China with a Bachelor of Engineering in Geo-information Science and Technology (2020). He has a multidisciplinary background in marine geosciences, hydrology, and geomatics. Currently Tianze is focusing on the research of modeling and investigating the coastal erosion and nearshore hydrodynamics of Prince Edward Island. Based on his research experience, he was invited to give guest lectures on UPEI’s courses, including ACC1020 Climate Adaptation Tool/Tech, ACC1040 Introduction to Climate Change, ACC4010 Coastal Climate Science, and BIO4090 Special Topics in Biology. On the 77th National Conference of Canadian Water Resources Association, Tianze won the Professor Ric Soulis Student Paper Award by giving the presentation Coastal Flood and Climate Change: Impacts and Responses (https://cwra.org/past-award-winners/).
